Welcome to the Howling Duck Ranch! We are a small, family run farm committed to developing food security for our family and our community. Our farm philosophy is based in terms of local foodshed development, community economic development and regional food sovereignty.
We strive to grow the best food possible for our community and families and take particular care with how we raise our fruit and vegetable food in general, and the food animals in particular. Our food is grown without chemical inputs and in a biodynamic way.
Our animals are raised in an ethical manner. What this means to us is they all have the opportunity to express themselves as who they are. They all have safe, warm adequate housing, with plenty of outdoor range space. Our ducks have their own pond and our chickens free-range daily all over the farm. The goats...well we try not to let them free-range all over the farm with varying degrees of success! In addition to the above, we allow our ducks and chickens to become mothers if they so choose; a very unusual food farming practice by today's standards of intensive livestock operation practices.
